Series Titles

  • An open-ended, peer-reviewed book series from the West Point Press exploring the lives and impact of some of the diverse graduates of the US Military Academy at West Point.

The series aims to highlight some of the exceptional men and women comprising the Long Gray Line whose examples, decisions, dilemmas, failures, and successes provide enduring lessons on leadership. The Press is especially interested in proposals that feature those whose exploits and accomplishments have not received the attention they deserve. Solidly researched and accessibly written, the works in this series will educate, inform, and inspire readers.

Books in the Leader from the Long Gray Line series will be historical nonfiction. They will vary in length based on their subject matter and the specific form they take (e.g., annotated memoir, annotated autobiography, biography, letters and journals, etc.).

  • An open-ended, peer-reviewed book series from the West Point Press focused on the men and women who have helped shape the US Army since its establishment on June 14, 1775.

Books in the Impactful US Army Leaders series will focus on the diverse group of men and women who have significantly shaped the United States Army - from its inception through today. The impact of these leaders can take many forms, but all will have shaped the Army in some meaningful way. While any figure who has helped shape the US Army can be part of the series, priority will be given to those works that highlight lesser-known leaders - those soldiers and civilians who have not received widespread recognition for their efforts, or those works that challenge more conventional narratives. Works do not need to limit their scope to the time the subject was serving in or supporting Army efforts and initiatives, but the work must devote sufficient attention to detailing the subject's impact on the Army.

Books in the series will be historical nonfiction and will vary in length based on their subject matter and the specific form they take.
